As an educator, I inform my clients about evidence-based information needed in pregnancy to make informed decisions during labor and birth. I use interactive teaching methods in my classes to ensure the participants stay engaged and understand the information. I believe childbirth is a lot less scary when you know what to expect and how it progresses. During the birth, I will give you ideas on how to move so that your labor keeps progressing and is manageable to handle. As your doula, I am there to educate you about any surprises that arisie so you can make informed decisions.
As a nurturer, I support you emotionally and physically through the birth. This comes in the form of body massage, verbal encouragement, and physical nourishment. I will make sure you are keeping your body hydrated and using the bathroom frequently. I set up the space using lighting and music of your choice. I am by your side, taking each
As a nurturer, I support you emotionally and physically through the birth. This comes in the form of body massage, verbal encouragement, and physical nourishment. I will make sure you are keeping your body hydrated and using the bathroom frequently. I set up the space using lighting and music of your choice. I am by your side, taking each contraction with you. I do this through close contact and breathing with you. As your doula, I would help your birth partner to know how they can support you by putting them in positions to be your main supporter. I strive to be a gentle and supportive presence that is there to hold your hand and fix your hair throughout the childbirth process.
Advocacy is another aspect of my role. Healthcare providers are awesome and genuinely want what's best for you, but sometimes, they get stuck in routines or protocols and forget to ask you what you want. As your doula, I would remind you that you can always ask for more time and clarification. I also remind you of what you decided during
Advocacy is another aspect of my role. Healthcare providers are awesome and genuinely want what's best for you, but sometimes, they get stuck in routines or protocols and forget to ask you what you want. As your doula, I would remind you that you can always ask for more time and clarification. I also remind you of what you decided during pregnancy so that you can choose to stick with your original wishes or create a new plan. I will never talk to a healthcare provider for you, but I will support you in your choices. My goal is to work as a team with nurses, doctors, and midwives as we serve you and your family.
Whether you are looking for a childbirth class, a doula, or lactation support, I would love to talk about how I can support you and your family through this exciting time of bringing a new life into the world. Please reach out with any questions or to schedule a free consultation.
